Stephen G. Martin, 75, of Blakely, died on Monday, in the Hospice Of The Sacred Heart Inpatient Facility. He was the husband of Sharon (Donnelly) Martin to whom he was married on December 3, 1977.
Born June 5, 1948 in Eynon, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Stephen and Margaret (Barren) Martin, Sr. Stephen honorably served his country in the US Army during Vietnam. He earned an Associate’s Degree from Lackawanna College and worked for many years for PennDot. He was a member of the Peckville VFW and a parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Peckville.
He loved spending time with family and friends. Going fishing, talking about cars, his weekly dinners at the club with friends, and the company of his dogs Mya, Diva, Buster and Precious. He was always willing to help anyone and everyone at any time.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Bryan and wife Taryn Martin, Robert, wife Heather Martin and daughter Milana, son Stephen Martin, daughter Lee Martin, grandson, Avery Martin, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by sister, Jean Murnock.
The Family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the care and compassion to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Fox Chase Hospital Philadelphia, Wilkes-Barre V.A and Dr. Kathryn Sallavanti.
The funeral will take place on Friday, 17 November 2023, at Sacred Heart of Jesus R.C. Church, 1101 Willow Street, Peckville, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated by Rev. Andrew Kurovsky, pastor. Interment Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton. The family will receive relatives and friends from 9-10 at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 53 Glenmaura National Blvd., Suite 120, Moosic, PA 18507.
