Rosemary Quinn Malloy passed away peacefully on October 25, 2024 at the Geisinger Hospital in Scranton with her loving husband of 52 years, Dr. Edwin S. Malloy, and her devoted family surrounding her with their unending love for her.
Born in Scranton on August 25, 1946, she was first of the seven daughters and five sons of the late Dr. John A. and June Scanlan Quinn.
She was a 1964 graduate of Marywood Seminary and received her Bachelor of Science degree in education in 1968 from Marywood University. Following post-graduate studies in Philadelphia, she served for several years as a member of the faculty of the Scranton State School for the Deaf.
Throughout her life, Rosemary was involved with various church, community and social organizations. Among them, she was long active with the Marywood Seminary Alumnae Association, St. Joseph’s Center and parents’ organizations at the schools of her children. A longtime member of her home parish, the Church of St. Gregory in Clarks Green, she served as a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the parish choir and an Ambassador with the parish hospitality ministry. Rosie also enjoyed golfing, card clubs and book clubs with her friends and family. She also relished entertaining family and friends at their summer home at Moosic Lake.
Wherever she went, she was remembered for her unfading smile and upbeat spirit. She understood well the need we all have for faithful friends and she was that for more people than she ever realized. She will be missed by many and certainly remembered by all.

Christopher C. Malloy and his wife, Atty. Julie-Anne, (Pittsburgh).
She is also survived by her three brothers: Dr. J. Anthony Quinn and his wife, Janie, (Waverly), Dr. Peter D. Quinn and his wife ,Eileen, (Haverford), and Msgr. Joseph G. Quinn, (Scranton), along with her six sisters: Susan L. Foote, (Ardmore), Dr. Margaret Q. Mariotti and her husband, Dr. John R. (Moosic Lake); Melissa C. LeStrange (Clarks Summit); Julianne T. Karpeh and her husband, Dr. Martin S. (New York); Sheila M. Strickland and her husband, Harry B. (Scranton) and Rebecca A. Walsh and her husband, Donald J., (Scranton).
And Rosie was indeed forever grateful for the ongoing gift of her sixteen grandchildren: Jacob, Maggie, Anna and Noah Kosierowski; Posie, Grace, Sadie and James Millett; Noam and Nadav Gildor; Quinn, Julia, Fiona and Owen McNany; Eddie and Eloise Booker. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews along with countless cousins within the Malloy and Quinn families.
