Rosemary T. (Scanlon) Fadden, 66, Factoryville, died Wednesday at home. She was the beloved wife of Richard "Dick" Fadden. The couple were married July 23, 2002.
Born Jan. 29, 1950, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Rose Scanlon. Rosemary lived most of her life in Philadelphia and during retirement, she and her husband moved to the mountains of rural Pennsylvania.
She was valedictorian of her class at St. Hubert's High School for Girls, where she studied an emphasis in music. She received her Associate of Arts degree in general studies from Peirce College, Philadelphia, and earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in humanities from Pennsylvania State University.
She formerly was a professor of English at Peirce College. Rosemary returned to her alma mater and accepted a teaching position with her educational abilities and a personality brimming with confidence and individuality.During her tenure at Peirce College, Rosemary specialized in general education and was an active participant in the production of selected college publications and the honor society. Rosemary embraced online instruction with the same energy she had always demonstrated on campus and facilitated the introduction of many online classes.
Rosemary had a passion for teaching and enjoyed working with her students.She was an avid reader of books and several daily newspapers. She shared her friendly smile, her kindness and her witty humor with everyone she met. Ro will be remembered for her love of all things.
She was also preceded in death by her son, David Brian Vanderpool Jr,. on Nov. 3, 2012.
The funeral will be Saturday from Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Service Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit, with a blessing service at noon by Monsignor Joseph G. Quinn, pastor, Our Lady of the Snows Parish, Clarks Summit. Entombment, Cathedral Cemetery.
