Ronald J. Alpert

Ronald J. Alpert, 88, of Dunmore and Lake Winola, formerly of Clarks Summit, died on Sunday, in Hospice of The Sacred Heart Inpatient Facility, Dunmore.  

Born January 11, 1935 in Scranton, Ronald was the son of the late Moe and Eleanor (Munley) Alpert.

He was a graduate of Dunmore High School where he was a member of the track team. He also ran track at the University of Scranton for the legendary Coach Emmett Jordan.  Ronald served his country in the National Guard as a Sergeant.  He worked as a mill representative for the carpet industry which inspired his son to form Alpert Carpet Distributors located in Dunmore.

Ronald was an avid bowler in the 60s and 70s. More recently, he became a member of the Scranton Canoe Club and enjoyed many rounds of golf with his friends. 

Surviving is a son: Robert N. Alpert, Dunmore; a grandson, Ryan (Megan) Alpert,  Scranton ; Two granddaughters, Alexandra Alpert and Summer Alpert  Dunmore;  great grandchildren, Jack, Ben & Audrey; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by brother, Norman R. Alpert and a nephew Jeffrey Alpert.

   The funeral will be Friday at 11 am at the Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Service, Inc., 111 Colburn Avenue, Clarks Summit, PA 18411 with services by Rev. Rev. Rebecca Tanner, Pastor of the Dunmore Presbyterian Church. Interment to follow in Dunmore Cemetery, Dunmore. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday 5 pm to 7 pm at the funeral home.
