Patricia Berk

Patricia Berk, 87, of South Abington Twp, died Tuesday at home. Her husband of 58 years was the late David S. Berk, who passed away on February 16, 2016. The couple was married on August 17, 1957.

Born July 12, 1935 in Watertown, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Lola Fassett Gragg. She was a graduate of Watertown High School, Watertown, NY and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in education from the State University of New York at Potsdam.  A South Abington Twp resident since 2012, having moved from Poughkeepsie, NY and was formerly from Syracuse, NY.  

She had been a teacher in the Syracuse, NY School District.

Patricia was a world traveler. She enjoyed countless trips over the years with her husband and made many wonderful friends on her adventures. She also loved shopping and a good sale. If she ended up not needing it, she’d gift it to a relative. When going to school reunions, she’d comment that her grandchildren were the “icing on the cake.” Of course, that was only until her great-grandchildren came along and they lit up her world.

Surviving are two daughters, Amy Ross and husband, George, of Santa Barbara, CA and Abigail “Abby” Thurston and husband, Donald, Pine Bush, NY; a granddaughter, Tina Giannetta and husband, Attorney Michael, Scott Twp; a grandson, Timothy Billias and wife, Allison, Monticello, NY; and great-grandchildren, Michael Giannetta Jr, Tricia Giannetta, Timothy Billias Jr, Vincent Billias, and Adrian Billias.  

She was preceded in death by three brothers James, Jack and William Gragg.

The funeral will be Tuesday from Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St, Clarks Summit, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am, to be celebrated by Msgr. Joseph G. Quinn, pastor. Interment, Clarks Green Cemetery.
