Norina (Major) VanSickle, 56, Clarks Summit, died Tuesday in Allied Services Hospice Center. She was the wife of Heath VanSickle.
Born May 4, 1966, in Pittston, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Alma Jean Ardoline Major Jr.
A Clarks Summit resident, she was a graduate of Abington Heights High School and attended Kutztown University and continued her studies at Allied Health Career Institute. She was employed by GMI Gilfoil before retirement. She formerly worked at the Gourmet Family Restaurant, Chinchilla, also previously, Gabe's Dinner, Scranton.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Parish, Clarks Summit, organizations that involved her son and was a social member of the Abington Memorial Post 7069, VFW, Clarks Summit.
Norina had an optimistic outlook on life, making the most of every day, #thebestdayever. Her gentleness and kind smile will be sadly missed.
Also surviving are a son, Chance, at home, who was the light of her life; two brothers, the Rev. Thomas J. Major of Dushore, and Jeffery and wife, Susie Major of Bayonne, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews, including a special niece and caregiver, Annessa Valchos. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Theodore, Charles and Patrick Major.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit, to be celebrated by her brother, the Rev. Thomas J. Major, pastor of St. Basil's Church, Dushore. Interment will be private.
The family will receive relatives and friends Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Service Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit, PA 18411.
