Michael Devon Erpelding

Michael Devon Erpelding, “Mike,” 65, of South Abington Twp. passed away peacefully on Wednesday at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Joanie (Cavanaugh) Erpelding.

Born April 13, 1959, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he was the son of the late George and Alberta (Wascher) Erpelding. Mike worked as an injection molding technician/lead mechanic for JED Pool Tools in Old Forge for over 20 years, where he made some great, lasting friendships.

Mike and Joanie met in Boca Raton, Florida, were wed in Fort Lauderdale and were together for 36 loving years. He was a generous and devoted husband and father, who was very much involved in his children’s activities as they were growing up. Mike was a proud and doting grandpa.

Mike enjoyed life to the fullest and he always found humor in everything. He was wise and intelligent; you could always count on him for the best advice in any situation. Mike was always ready for a good road trip and loved traveling with his family. He very much enjoyed barbeques and parties with family and friends.

Mike was a passionate musician and an avid reader – especially reading about history. He was also an enthusiastic Green Bay Packers fan.

Surviving are two sons, Paul William Erpelding and Devon Michael Erpelding; one daughter, Zoe Amalia Erpelding; and six grandchildren, Daisy Padula, Sawyer, Isabelle, Olivia, Fiona and Eloise Erpelding.

The Erpelding family would like to thank the wonderful and benevolent staff at Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore for their compassionate care of Mike during the past six months and their continuous help and support to his family.

The funeral will take place on Saturday with a memorial service to be celebrated at 3 p.m. at the Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Service Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit, Pa. 18411. The family will receive relatives and friends prior from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home. A private cremation will take place following the service at the funeral home’s on-site private crematory.
