Mary "Mollie" W. Woehling

Mollie “Gigi” Wolfinger Woehling 98 years, of Waverly, died Saturday, in Geisinger Community Medical Center. She married her high school sweetheart, H. Leigh Woehling, who died February 3rd, 1983. The couple was married on June 12th, 1948.

Born January 1st, 1926, in Norristown, PA. Mollie was the daughter of the late Wellington and Katharine (Hobson) Wolfinger. She was the youngest of three children. Mollie was a 1943 graduate of Norristown High School. In 1947 she received her Bachelor of Arts in French from Bucknell University and graduated with honors. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi and active in Student Government, Class President. She was crowned May Queen at Bucknell University and “Miss Loveliness” by Walt Disney. Mollie was a beauty inside and out. She was a teacher at Holland Day School in Norristown, PA. Mollie was the proud owner of WFCO Flag, and was fondly known as “the flag lady.”  She worked at the Three Tenses, Clarks Summit, a specialty shop of home interior accessories and gifts. 

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Clarks Summit, the Abington Business & Professional Association, and the Waverly Women’s Club. She was an active volunteer at the Waverly Community House, where she enjoyed playing bridge and tennis, volunteering at the Attic Shop and leading the Girl Scout troop. Mollie’s kindness, neighborly demeanor and caring nature resonated with all those she encountered. The Waverly Community and her neighbors were not only integral to her life, but also served as pillars of support, becoming cherished members of her extended family. 

Mollie was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her family affectionately knew her as Gigi and admired her for her love of adventure and enthusiasm. Surviving are two sons: Edward L. Woehling, DDS (JoAnne) of Rosemont, PA, and Donald Woehling DDS (Kristin) of Delavan, WI, a daughter: Katharine Stowe (John) of Big Sky, MT, 16 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles H., and Robert H. Wolfinger.

 The family will host relatives and friends on May 11^th, with details regarding time and location to be announced. A private interment will be held at Hickory Grove Cemetery, Waverly Township, with services by Rev. William G. Carter, pastor First Presbyterian Church of Clarks Summit.
