Mary Lou Elizabeth Holden Gawrys, 46, of South Abington Twp., passed Tuesday in the comfort of her home after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Christopher G. Gawrys. The couple would have celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary on Feb. 28.Born Feb. 28, 1968, in Scranton, daughter of Richard and Patricia Craven Holden, Chinchilla, she was a 1986 graduate of Abington Heights High School. She had worked for several years at Kane Freight Lines Scranton as a dispatcher manager.She was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Parish and had been a CCD teacher. Devoted to adult literacy, she was a volunteer with SCOLA and the Lupus Foundation.Her hobbies include restoring and refinishing her treasures. She had a talent to rejuvenate things and people. A loving caring person, she was devoted to her family and extended family. All were welcome in her home, especially those in need of direction and loving kindness. Her motherly instinct was shared with many. Her beauty and genuine caring will be sadly missed.Also surviving are four daughters, Nichole King and husband, Robert "Rocky," Louisville, Ky.; Kathleen, Scranton; Bridgette Hoffman and husband, Thomas, Gouldsboro; and Rebecca, at home; a brother, Richard and wife, Lisa, Moscow; a sister, Bonita Russell and husband, Roy, Dalton; an idolized granddaughter, Kathleen Hoffman; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.The funeral will be Saturday with Mass at 1 p.m. in Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Interment will be private.The family will receive relatives and friends Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Service Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit.Memorial contributions may be made to Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, Clarks Summit, PA 18411.
