Marie (Kazmierski) Chibirka, 88, of West Abington Twp., died peacefully on Tuesday at Regional Hospital of Scranton. She was the wife of the late Joseph T. Chibirka. The couple had been married since Oct. 25, 1952.
Born June 18, 1930, in Scranton, the daughter of the late Bernard and Emily (Minich) Kazmierski, Marie was a 1948 graduate of Scott High School and worked as a PNC loans specialist.
She enjoyed cooking, canning and completing crosswords; but, most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Surviving are four sons, Joseph of Duncansville, James of Dalton, Martin (Jean Law) of Dalton and John Chibirka (Kathleen Scoboria) of Wernersville; three daughters, Marylou Chibirka of Dalton, Rosemarie Bailey (Tim) of Conway, Ark., and Teresa Spence of Tampa, Fla.; two brothers, Bernard Kazmierski Jr. (Martha) of Seminole, Fla. and Daniel Kazmierski (Dee) of Scranton; two sisters, Audrey Lehnert of Clarks Summit and Alice Sokoloski (Edward) of Justus; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Saturday with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Snows, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit, to be celebrated by the Rev. Edward J. Casey. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Scott Twp.
The family will receive relatives and friends Friday from 5 to 7 at the Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Service Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit.
