Lorraine R. Kowalchuck Wisnieski, 84, of North Abington Twp., died Saturday at home. Her loving husband of 47 years, Roman Joseph Wisnieski, died Dec. 12, 2003.
Born July 4, 1931, in Scranton, daughter of the late James and Catherine Zuk Kowalchuck, Lorraine was a graduate of Nicholson High School.
She resided in North Abington Twp. since August 1967 and formerly lived in New Jersey and Towanda. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who was a faithful member of the Church of St. Gregory, Clarks Green.
She enjoyed spending time with her family. An avid bingo player, she attended area bingo regularly. She enjoyed her home and garden, and loved going to the beach.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Varonko and husband, Wally, Duxbury, Mass.; and Lorraine M. Wisnieski, who was her caregiver, North Abington Twp.; and two granddaughters, Catherine and Maria Varonko, Duxbury, Mass.
She was also preceded in death by five sisters, Olga Stanton, Catherine Dixon, Mary Litoski, Jennie Psak and Dorothy Rogers; and four brothers, James and Michael Kowalchuck, Daniel and Efrem Litoski.
The funeral will be Thursday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Gregory, 330 North Abington Road, Clarks Green. Interment will be at a later date at the convenience of the family, St. Patrick's Cemetery, Nicholson.
The family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday, 4 to 7 p.m., at the Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Service Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit.
