Lois B. (Barrett) McHale, 93, of Clarks Green, died Saturday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart. She was the loving widow of Paul "Hess" Hastings McHale, who died July 24, 1996. The couple was married since Sept. 23, 1950. The couple had been married more than 46 years.
Born Dec. 6, 1928, in Peckville, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Egan) Barrett. A 1946 graduate of Blakely High School, she had been employed by Bell Telephone Co. Once the children were in school she was a friendly cashier at CVS, Clarks Green. Lois was a member of the Church of St. Gregory, Red Hats of Clarks Summit, Penny Poker and Pinochle clubs and the Abington Heights Senior Center.
Lois' greatest love was family. She could be counted on to be at every graduation, every wedding and every family party no matter what the occasion. She was also a bit of a clotheshorse in her retirement years, always a new outfit for every gathering. Lois was the consummate mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend.
Surviving are two sons, John R. McHale, Clarks Green; and Michael P. McHale and wife, Jeannie, Dunmore; two daughters, Noreen Dolan and husband, Bernard, Apalachin, N.Y.; and Molly Bryant and husband, Thomas, Owego, N.Y.; four grandsons, Sean (Tina) and Daniel (Katie) Dolan, Connor and Keenan (Kylie) Bryant; two granddaughters, Maggie and Abbey McHale; two great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters, Natalie Dolan, Josie Linn Austin, Michael and Matthew Dolan.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and John Barrett; and two sisters, Marilou McDonald and Claire Scanlon.
The funeral will be Thursday, St. Patrick's Day, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Church of St. Gregory, 330 North Abington Road, Clarks Green, to be celebrated by the Rev. John M. Lapera, pastor. Masks are recommended. Interment, St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow, Pa.
The family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Service Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit, PA 18411.
