Lois Madeline (Hughes) Ferguson, 87, of Clarks Summit, died Wednesday in Green Ridge Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Thomas Michael Ferguson Sr., with whom she was married for 48 years before his passing in 2000.
Born May 16, 1929 in Scranton, Lois was the daughter of the late Harry and Minnie Warner Hughes.
Lois was a graduate of Newton Ransom High School and attended nursing school. She worked as a nurse's aide for the Jewish Home. Lois was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Snows Church and was a member of the Abington Senior Center. She loved animals and enjoyed playing bingo and crocheting. Most of all she enjoyed the happy times shared with her family. The family would like to extend their gratitude for the quality care provided for their mother at the Greenridge Nursing Center and by the Care givers at Traditional Hospice.
Surviving are three sons: Thomas, Jr. (Lisa Mauldin) of Scranton, Joseph (Greta) of Elizabeth City, NC, and Frank Ferguson (Michelle) of Mt. Cobb; two daughters: Linda Shorten (John) of Hawley, and Kathleen Hadsell (James) of Simpson; 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren She was preceded in death by her brothers, Leroy and Harry Hughes.
Honoring Lois's requests', a private Mass of Christian Burial was held at Church of St. Benedict, Newton Twp, celebrated by Rev. Seth D. Wasnock with a private interment in Cathedral Cemetery.
