Leonard Gorney, 79, of South Abington Township, died Saturday, at Hospice of The Sacred Heart, Dunmore. He was the husband of Patricia Panzarella Gorney and the son of the late Leonard and Anna Tokarchik Gorney.
He retired from King’s College as a professor and chair of the Computer Information Systems department. Leonard was also a member of the South Abington Township Planning Commission, Scranton-Abingtons Planning Association, Abington Council of Governments, and past president of the Lackawanna River Conservation Association and Trout Unlimited. He was an avid catch and release fly fisherman, for which he tied his own flies and also enjoyed gardening, photography, reading, and crossword puzzles.
In addition to his loving wife, Leonard is survived by his son James, South Abington Township; daughter, Lynn Lucash and husband, Greg of South Abington Township; and granddaughter, Kiera Lucash, his pride and joy. He is also survived by brothers Glenn and wife Maryann of Myrtle Beach SC and David and wife Susan, of Sedona AZ, sisters in law, brother in law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The services for Leonard will be private at the convenience of the family.
