Lauren "Laurie" Martino

Lauren “Laurie” Fanning Martino, 62, of Clarks Summit, died Monday at Moses Taylor Hospital. Her loving companion was the late Mitch Fuller, who died June 5, 2021.
Born July 11, 1959, in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Bernard “Bernie” H. Jr. and Helen Ford Fanning. She formerly lived in Chinchilla and was a 1977 graduate of Abington Heights High School, Clarks Summit. She had been a secretary employed by Donnelly and Company and for other area business.
Laurie was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Parish, Clarks Summit, and the Abington Memorial Post, VFW 7069.
A homemaker at heart, in good times she enjoyed hosting and cooking for gatherings. A fan of the beach where she relaxed and enjoyed the calmness, also walks in parks and nature were comforting and her cats brought her much joy. A person to stay to herself surprisingly would occasionally share a witty off the wall comeback that others enjoyed in a non-harmful way. She idolized her daughter and was truly comforted when she joined hands with James. Her quiet gentleness will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Surviving are a daughter, Elizabeth Grubham and husband, James, Madisonville; two brothers, Bernard Fanning II (Christine), Clarks Summit; and Patrick Fanning (Cheryl Keen), Tunkhannock; a sister, Cynthia Fanning Champlin, Clarks Summit; nieces and nephews, and cousins.
The funeral will be Saturday, Jan. 8, from Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit, with Mass at 11 a.m. to be celebrated by Monsignor Michael J. Delaney, pastor. Interment will be private at Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst. The family will receive friends at the church Jan. 8, 10 to 10:45 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Assisi Kitchen, 500 Penn Ave., Scranton, PA 18509; or Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, Clarks Summit, PA 18411.
