Judith Ann Lomeo

Judith Ann (Edmunds) Lomeo, 81, of Clarks Summit, peacefully passed on in Elan Skilled Nursing and Rehab, Scranton.  She was proceeded in death by her loving husband Samuel Charles Lomeo, on December 20, 2008.

Born June 1, 1942 in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Helen (Speicher) Edmunds.

Judy was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and subsequently received her Registered Nursing degree from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing.  She and her husband, Sam, started, owned, and operated Carpet Chalet on Northern Blvd in Clarks Summit for 50 years.

Judy had a kind heart, was very religions, and devoted to taking care of her husband and family.  Before her health declined, Judy always looked forward to spending time with her family, preparing meals on Sunday’s and holidays.  She enjoyed bowling and going on tournament trips with her daughter and friends.  Judy loved vacationing in Ogunquit, Maine with her kids and grandkids.  She was an avid runner during her younger years and enjoyed going around Lake Scranton.  Judy also enjoyed bird watching and was a member of the Audubon Society.

Judy spent her last years in care facilities struggling with progressive dementia.  She received remarkable care at Elan Skilled Nursing, where she gained the title of “Hallmark Girl” because of the way she spoke with her blue eyes and her carrying ways.  We thank her many caregivers who supported her and provided love and comfort through the last few years.

She is survived by her children, Christine Matsell and husband Anthony of Clarks Summit, Samuel Lomeo and wife Natalie of Dalton, and Lisa Bourcier and Husband Normand of Clarks Summit, grandchildren, Anthony and Christian Matsell, Sammy, Devin and Ariana Lomeo, Gabriella and Eva Bourcier of Clarks Summit, and Great Grandchild, Bella Rae Carson of Berwick, and nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be privately held. Interment at St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery, Archbald.
