Joseph Monetta

Joseph J. Monetta, 74, of North Abington Twp., died on Wednesday, at home.

Born April 21, 1947 in the Bronx, he was the son of the late Joseph Anthony and Anna M. (Sclafani) Monetta. Joe graduated from St. Helena’s High School and honorably served his country in the New York Army National Guard. He married the late Linda Lee (Barlow) Monetta on September 12, 1971. Joe retired from MetLife as VP of Customer Service after 37 years.

Joe enjoyed playing chess with his daughter, Jennifer, target shooting, hearing updates about his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, watching movies and spending time with Jennifer’s dog, Luci.

Surviving are his three children- Christina Murri and husband Doug of Sugar Grove, IL., Jennifer Monetta and fianceé Paul Coleman of Factoryville, and Gregory Monetta and wife Ashley of Dalton; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Joe was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. Dominic J. Monetta.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, December 3 from 4:30 – 6:30 pm at Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 111 Colburn Avenue, Clarks Summit, PA 18411. A funeral service will be held at 6:30pm at the funeral home. A private interment will take place in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Waverly Twp.

Due to a significant allergy, no flowers can be accepted by the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, t2t.org.
