Joan Claire LoGiudice, 90, of Clarks Summit, PA, died peacefully in her sleep at her daughter’s home on September 20, 2024, surrounded by her family. Joan was born in Newark, NJ, in 1934, to the late James V. and Lighta D. (Nervi) Maguire. She grew up in Newark and attended Sacred Heart School. Due to an illness, Joan left highschool at the age of 16 but later received her GED from Union County College. After raising her children, Joan worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Jersey in Florham Park until she retired in 1993.
While still living in Newark, Joan met Joseph LoGiudice (Joe) and the couple began a four year courtship. In 1960, Joan married Joe and the couple was together for another 58 years before his death in 2018. Joan and her husband enjoyed many scenic vacations across the United States but were especially fond of Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Their first trip to Disney was in 1985 when they celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. Joan continued to wear a Mickey Mouse watch that Joe gave her from that trip until her last few months.
In 1964, Joan and her husband moved to Roselle, NJ, where they lived and raised their family for the next 29 years. Joan and Joe were members of the Church of Saint Joseph the Carpenter where their three children attended elementary school. While raising her family, Joan volunteered at many school, church, and scouting events, which included 12 years at the school library. After retiring from Blue Cross, Joan moved with her husband to South Brunswick and Plainsboro, NJ, where she spent the next 29 years enjoying retirement. Joan continued to volunteer with different organizations from crocheting blankets for disabled veterans to supporting various girl scouting events. During this period of time, Joan’s family grew by welcoming seven grandchildren to the group. She loved to attend her grandchildren’s school and sporting events with her husband. Many times they could be seen buried under blankets cheering on the next generation at an outdoor event. Joan moved to Clarks Summit, PA., in 2022 when her daughter and son-in-law relocated to Pennsylvania.
Joan is predeceased by her husband, her parents, and her brother, James. Joan is survived by her three children: sons, Joseph M. LoGiudice and his wife, Doreen of Cranford, NJ; James F.
