Jane McDonnell Lawrence of Langhorne, formerly of Chinchilla, died Saturday at the home of her son, Jeffrey, with whom she resided. Her husband of 51 years, David L. Lawrence, died in 2001.
Born and raised in West Scranton, daughter of the late Patrick and Bridget Gilroy McDonnell, she was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and a member of the class of January 1943. She moved from West Scranton to South Abington Twp. in 1950 and was a member of Our Lady of Snows Parish.
She was employed by the State Workman's Insurance Fund at the time of her retirement in 1991.
Surviving are a daughter, Suzanne Ciarcia and husband, Frank Ciarcia, Berlin, Conn.; three sons, Jeffrey, Langhorne; Casey, Yardley; and Jamie and wife, Dr. Judy, Mountain Top; four grandsons, Nicolas Ciarcia, Boston; Paul Ciarcia, Stamford, Conn.; PFC Ryan Lawrence, (U.S. Army), Fort Bragg, N.C.; and Capt. Kevin Lawrence, (U.S. Army), Colorado Springs, Colo.; two nieces, Carol Dreher, Baton Rouge, La.; and Lt. Col. Cathy Dreher (USAF) Ret., Candler, N.C.; and nephew, Thomas McDonnell, Levittown.
She was slso preceded in death by three sisters, Helen and Ann McDonnell, and Mary Dreher; and four brothers, John, Thomas, James and Robert.
The funeral will be Saturday with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. from Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit, to be celebrated by the Rev. Seth D. Wasnock. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.
The family will receive relatives and friends Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Service Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit.
