James Cotter

James Kevin Cotter,68, formerly of Scranton, died Tuesday, August 28th at the Carbondale Nursing Home.

Jim was born on September 29th,1949 in Scranton to the late James and Rosemary O’Malley Cotter. He was 1967 graduate of Scranton Tech High School. Jim was a welder for the General Dynamics Electric Board division in Groton, CT. He also worked as a copy editor for the former Scranton Tribune and as a custodian at the Scranton Public Library. Jim served four years in the Pennsylvania Civil Air Patrol.

Jim was a kind and loving son, brother, uncle and friend to many. He was an avid reader of history, lover of many music genres, cigars and Buona pizza. He will be sorely missed by many.

The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at the Carbondale Nursing Home and Home Health Care Hospice for the wonderful care they gave to Jim; also, Joe Ricardo, Tom, Joe, Mike Musewicz and Ellen Eiden for their love and support on his final journey home.

Survivors: his sister, Sheila Kohut (Tom); niece, Emily Kohut; the Musewicz family (who were a second family to Jim and Sheila); and several cousins. Jim had many great friends, who will miss him dearly including: Carl Kretch, Brother Joseph Rogers, Tom Musewicz Frank McHale and Joe Ricardo.

The funeral will be Monday, September 17th, at Nativity of Our Lord Church, 633 Orchard Street, Scranton, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated by Rev. Michael Bryant, Pastor. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery.

The family will receive relatives and friends before the mass from 9-10 am at the church.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made Nativity of Our Lord Church, St Francis Kitchen, 500 Penn Avenue, Scranton, PA18509, or the charity of one’s choice.
