Helen Kneiss

Helen (Raynak) Kneiss, 95, a longtime resident of Old Forge, died on Tuesday June 21st at home surrounded by her loving family.

Born August 1, 1926 in Old Forge she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Mihok) Raynak. She was married to the late Andrew Kneiss.

Helen graduated from Old Forge High School.  She was employed for 32 years as the Old Forge Elementary’s secretary.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially cooking and baking for them during the holidays.  She loved all children that came into her life through her job and paid special attention to the foster children that her son and his wife brought into her life.  She always had a beautiful flower garden and enjoyed watching the birds she fed daily.   

Surviving are her children: Andrea Kneiss and husband Loren Dunham Taylor, John Kneiss and wife Sharon Wilmington, NC, Thomas Kneiss and wife Susan of South Abington Twp.PA;  grandchildren, Matthew (Aimee) Kneiss, Charlie (Jenn) Cosmark, Chris (Melissa) Cosmark, Jeff (Darcell) Cosmark, Jamie and Destiny Kneiss, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

She is preceded in death by six brothers and one sister.

The family would like to express special thanks to the nurses and aids from VNA Hospice and all her other private care givers. 

The funeral will take place at 10:30am on July 9th at The Church of St. Gregory with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated by Rev. John M. Lapera. The family will receive relatives and friends at the church prior to the Mass from 9:30-10:30am.
