Gail A. Andrews

Gail Arlene (Johnson) Andrews, 72, a resident of Taylor, died on Wednesday June 28^th, at Regional Hospital of Scranton. She was surrounded by her family and received countless phone calls from dear friends and extended family throughout the day.

        Born on August 6, 1950 in Richmond, Virginia she was the daughter of the late Walter and Alvena (Wiberg) Johnson. Gail graduated from Richmond Montgomery High School and studied at Athens College in Athens, Alabama. Gail spent the entirety of her career with the United States Army as a Traffic Management Specialist. She provided key support during Operation Desert Storm. It was her honor and privilege to have served our country's military members and their families for many decades.

        To say the Gail was unique is an understatement. She could always be spotted in  a crowd. She loved bright colors and bold patterns. It was a rarity to see her without her signature, large and flashy earring or her “lips” on. Gail had many passions in life; she loved to travel, especially to the beach, she was an avid reader, loved movies, animals, and supported many charities. She had been an active and popular member of AA for many decades. Gail sponsored numerous women over the years, many of whom went on to sponsor other women. Above all else, Gail loved her family and friends. Nothing made her happier than just spending time with the ones she loved.

        Surviving is one brother: Bradley Johnson (Marcia Johnson) of S. Abington Twp., PA, nieces Erin Toole of Nicholson, PA, Lindsey Johnson of Archbald, PA: great-nephew Seamus Carrick of Archbald, PA; and sister-in-law, Judy Lidle of Jermyn, PA.

        The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to The Humane Society of Lackawanna County and Blue Chip Animal Refuge.
