Evelyn Grace (Bowman) Whiteash 89 years, Dalton, died Thursday, in St. Mary's Villa Nursing Home, Elmhurst Twp. She was the widow of the late Joseph J. Whiteash who died February 21, 1979. The couple was married for more than 32 years.
Born November 13, 1924 in Wilmington, Delaware, she was the daughter of the late Elwood and Bertha (Martin) Bowman. Evelyn attended Minquadale school district, and lived in Delaware and Michigan before moving to Glenburn Twp., PA in 1963.
Evelyn was a member of Our Lady of Snows Parish and the Women's Guild. She was an avid bowler and was a member of the bowling leagues at Idle Hour Lanes.
A loving mother and grandmother, she enjoyed her home and especially spending time in her garden. She enjoyed playing cards and was very competitive at it. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.
Surviving are three daughters: Victoria Nicholas, Glenburn; Christine Halboth, Alto, MI; Jennifer Whiteash, Eliot, ME; a son: Kenneth Whiteash, Ridgeway, WI; two grandsons, Tim Hansen, Atlanta, GA; Christopher Hansen, Byron Center, MI; a granddaughter, Courtney Nicholas, Houston, TX; a great grandson, Tyler Hansen, and various nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
The funeral will be Monday with Mass at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Snows, 301 South State Street, Clarks Summit. Interment will be in Cathedral Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends Sunday from 3 pm to 6 pm at the Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Service, Inc., 111 Colburn Avenue, Clarks Summit, PA 18411. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Mary's Villa, 675 St. Mary's Villa Road, Moscow, PA 18444.
