Evelyn R. (Moran) Heiser, 95, a longtime resident of Clarks Summit, Pa., and most recently, Media, died on Monday in Sunrise Granite Run, Media, Pa. She was the wife of the late Walter Heiser, who died in 1995. Evelyn was a loving wife and devoted mother, a wonderful friend and colleague, and a superlative cook.
Born in Pittston, PA, she was a daughter of the late William and Mae (Murphy) Moran. She was a graduate of a business college. Evelyn worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, where she met and married Walter Heiser, the love of her life. Later she worked for the Internal Revenue Service, rising to a supervisory position from which she retired in 1982.
Evelyn and Walter spent many happy years enjoying Evelyn’s home cooking, hosting their annual Labor Day picnics, and traveling across the United States and Europe. Evelyn was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of the Snows Church, where she volunteered and enjoyed Friday Morning Company. She was active in the Abington Women’s Club, where she held every office. Over the years, what she may have enjoyed most was watching many relatives’ and neighbors’ little children.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Anne (Heiser) Ward and son-in-law, David Ward, of Media; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Sarah McNulty and Irene Ludden; and her brothers, Robert, James, Frances, Larry and Leo Moran.
