Esther Vitale

Esther R. Vitale, 87, passed into heaven on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, with her daughter Judy at her side. She was the wife of the late Anthony Vitale.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Hulda Hawkins. Esther was preceded in death by her brother Harold and sister Rosemarie.

Esther was raised in Scranton and worked in the garment industry for many years. She was a hard worker who would rise at 3am to walk from West Scranton to work in downtown Scranton. Esther moved to Clarks Summit and truly loved the friends she came to know in her apartment building.

She truly enjoyed her friends, the "golden girls" as she called them, and loved going out to dinner, going to the casino, or simply enjoying each other's company. Esther loved to cook and was the best soup maker in the world, supplying soup for her friends and family.

Esther was a marvelous woman and would always do nice things for others and would never seek any recognition for her deeds; although, she was appreciated by all who knew her. She will truly be missed by her daughter Judy and her "favorite son-in-law", John. Her unconditional love for her grandchildren Jonathan and Jeremy will last forever. She was "Noni" to all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughter Judith Jurbala and husband John; and her grandchildren: Jonathan and Jeremy.

A visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:30-10:45am at the Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Service, Inc.,111 Colburn Avenue, Clarks Summit with a memorial service to follow at 11am with services by Elder Linda Griffiths, Pastor Community of Christ Church. Interment will be private at a later date in Cathedral Cemetery.
