Douglas William Alan Bigelow, 27, Throop, died Wednesday in Moses Taylor Hospital after a lifelong struggle.
Born May 18, 1990, in Scranton, he was the son of Donald A. and Fay (Cator) Bigelow, Throop.
Doug was lovingly cared for at St. Joseph's Center, Scranton, for which the family is truly grateful. He shared much joy with his family and caregivers. He was very special in many hearts.
The family wishes to express its sincere appreciation to St. Joseph's Center, the doctors and staff at Moses Taylor Hospital and especially Dr. Anders Nelson for his continued dedication to the care of Doug.
Also surviving are two brothers, Alan, Nicholson; and Andrew, Orlando, Fla.; four sisters, Nina Marie, Marrianne and Alyssa Bigelow, all of Throop; and Victoria Bigelow, Dickson City; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Christopher Bigelow, in 2013.
A memorial service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph's Center, 2010 Adams Ave., Scranton, by the Rev. Kerry Krissel, Two Rivers Church, Chenango Bridge, N.Y. The family will receive relatives and friends Thursday from 1 to 2 at St. Joseph's Center.
