Dorothy W. Dziakowski Stampien, died Tuesday. She was the loving wife for 57 years to Dr. Stanley F. Stampien, who died Jan. 6, 2007.
Born March 13, 1927 in Camden, N.J., daughter of the late John and Blanche Dziakowski, she lived most of her life in Old Forge. She was a graduate of Camden High School and received her degree from Temple University, Philadelphia. She assisted her husband in his dental practice in Old Forge. She was a former member of St. Michael's Church, Old Forge, and the Country Club of Scranton, where she was an avid golfer and a member of the women's golf league.
A gracious lady with dignity and style, she was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed many happy times with her family and especially loved wintering with her husband in Jupiter, Fla. Her kind and gentleness will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by a son, Jan C. Stampien, DDS, South Abington Twp.; a daughter, Denise Stampien Coco and husband, Frank, New Canaan, Conn.; three granddaughters, Ashley Stampien, Brittany and Christy Coco; a grandson, Alexander Coco; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Marianne F. Stampien, R.N.; and a sister, Joan Pepiak.
The funeral will be Friday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit, to be celebrated by the Rev. Jeffrey D. Tudgay. Interment private in Holy Cross Cemetery, Old Forge.
The family will receive relatives and friends Friday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Service Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit.
