Donna H. Villano

Donna Villano, 82, South Abington Twp., died Saturday. She was wife to the love of her life, Anthony Villano.

Born March 4, 1941, she graduated from St. Rose High School, Carbondale. Donna worked in the rectory for the seven priests at St. Rose of Lima Church, who would later marry her and Anthony. This was quite possibly her favorite story to share with others and a treasured memory. She and Tony ran Villano's Hill Market and a clothing store next door. She worked for Meals on Wheels of Scranton, and worked in the medical record department of Mercy Hospital. She later retired to embark on her favorite "occupation," taking care of her grandchildren.

Donna was a beacon of warmth and kindness who found purpose in helping others. Her journey through life was marked by an unwavering commitment to her family, and she embodied the true essence of a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, or Nanu, as her grandchildren called her. Donna approached every aspect of her life with grace, humility and an unparalleled generosity of spirit. To know her was to love her.

As a wife, Donna was the anchor of her family, providing unwavering support and boundless love to her spouse, Tony. Their 60 year marriage was a source of inspiration to those around them, and this love was the foundation upon which their family flourished.

As a mother, she was the epitome of nurturing love. Her children were her pride and joy, and she devoted herself to their well-being with an endless reservoir of patience and understanding. Her guidance, wisdom and unconditional love shaped the character of her children, leaving an unparalleled mark on their lives.

In the role of a grandmother, Nanu radiated joy and warmth. Her eyes sparkled with love and pride as she watched her grandchildren grow. She delighted in their accomplishments, shared in their dreams, and created a haven of love and laughter for each generation.

Her departure leaves a void that cannot be filled, but the memories of her love, laughter and kindness will endure. She was a remarkable woman whose life was a testament to selflessness and boundless compassion. She leaves behind a legacy that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. As we mourn this incredible loss, let us also celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the profound impact she had on all who knew her. Donna lived a life kissed by God. We know that she will rest in eternal peace, surrounded by those who passed before her. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were privileged to call her wife, mother, Nanu and friend.
