Charles J. Morgan, 80, of Newton Twp., died Thursday at home. He was the loving husband of Janis Towson Morgan; the couple has been married 58 years.
Born June 29, 1944 in Baltimore, Md., he was the son of the late George W. and Marian E. (Bryant) Morgan.
Chuck graduated from Calvert Hall High School in Maryland and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Baltimore. He was a proud and successful business owner in the textile industry and operated Cedar Jet Yarns Inc. in Scranton, one of his most notable accounts being with Ford Motor Company. After a brief retirement, Chuck went back to work and became a school bus driver for Rohrer Bus Service where he made many great friendships.
Chuck had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and working with animals, especially horses. He had his own horses and was active in the equestrian sport of fox hunting. Most importantly, he was proud of his family and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Chuck is survived by his daughter, Michele (Chad) Reese, of Newton Twp.; five grandchildren, Kyra, Cole and Delana Reese, and Dylan and Ethan Morgan.
He was preceded in death by his son, David G. Morgan in 2019; and a sister, Dolores Thomas, of Baltimore, Md.
The family will receive relatives and friends Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. with a blessing service at 5:30 p.m. at the Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit, PA 18411. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.
