Catherine Gibbons Shotto, 71, of Taylor, died Thursday at home. She was the widow of Francis Joseph O'Malley and Paul Shotto.
Born May 18, 1946 in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late William Patrick and Alice Neary Gibbons. A lifelong Scranton area resident, she was a graduate of Holy Rosary High School, a former member of Holy Rosary Church and later Our Lady of the Snows Parish while residing in Clarks Summit.
Surviving are three sons, Austin O'Malley and wife, Lori, Lake Ariel; Franc O'Malley and husband, Capt. James Ellzy, Washington D.C.; and Paul Shotto and wife, Tara, Thornhurst; 16 grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen O'Malley; seven sisters, Mary, Leona, Sarah, Harriet, Rebecca, Margaret and Dorothy; and four brothers, Arthur, Joseph, William and Robert.
The family would like to thank Catherine's circle of friends, especially her dear friend Ellen Gilboy, for being so kind and caring to her over the years.
A blessing service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. from Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit, with services by Monsignor Joseph G. Quinn, pastor Our Lady of the Snows Parish. Interment at Cathedral Cemetery will be private at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive relatives and friends Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association, 527 Plymouth Road, Suite 415, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462.
