Catherine "Kay" E. Smith

Catherine (Kay) (Haberstroh) Smith, 87, of Clarks Summit, died on Tuesday.

Born October 9, 1935 in Clarks Summit, she was the daughter of the late John and Catherine (Kacer) Haberstroh.

“Gramma Kay”  (as she was affectionately known as) graduated from Clarks Summit High School and went on to work for Acme markets and later in quality control for Penthouse Meat Packing. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Snows, Clarks Summit.

Mom enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandsons who were the light of her life. She also enjoyed casino trips with her daughter, Cathy.

Surviving are three sons: Mark David Smith of Scranton, Douglas E. Smith (Sharon) of Dickson City, and James Smith (Gabriela) of Scranton; one daughter: Cathy Cruikshank (Andrew Kopczynski) of Dallas; one sister: Nancy Singh (Parvish) of Atlanta, GA; grandsons, James Anthony Smith of Scranton and D.J. Smith of Dickson City. 

She was preceded in death by brothers, Carl and Larry Haberstroh and sisters Marge Jenkins and Paula Mancia.

 The funeral will take place on Thursday at 9:30am at Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State Street, Clarks Summit, with a Mass of the Christian Burial to be celebrated by Rev. Stephen A. Asomah, assistant pastor. The family will receive relatives and friends a half hour before the mass in the church. Interment, Clarks Green Cemetery.
