Ann Marie Archibald, R.N.

Ann Marie Archibald, R.N., 77, of Scott Twp., passed away Sunday at Regional Hospital of Scranton surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of 45 years to George Archibald.

Born Oct. 12, 1944, in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph F. and Leona (Drake) Morisco. After graduating Archbald High School, she earned her nursing degree from St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing, Carbondale, and received a medical surgical certification through the American Nurse's Credential Center.

Annie began her professional nursing career of more than 30 years in 1965 at Moses Taylor Hospital, having served as a staff nurse, assistant head nurse, head nurse of the medical/surgical unit and appointed assistant nurse manager of the Skilled Nursing Facility. After leaving Moses Taylor Hospital, she served the last part of her career at Lackawanna Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was an active fundraising volunteer for the Hemodialysis Patients Association of Northeastern Pennsylvania.

An animal lover, she was very fond of Irish Setters and her families' dogs. An avid traveler, she enjoyed her cross-country adventure with friends sightseeing and their trips to Acapulco, Mexico and the Hawaiian Islands. She enjoyed taking her niece Meg and nephew Joe on many adventures in their younger years. A devoted wife and a loving mother, her gentle kindness will be sadly missed.

Also surviving are a son, George Archibald Jr. and his wife, Amy, South Abington Twp.; a granddaughter, Pyper; and two grandsons, Aiden and Lucas Archibald; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brother, Joseph M. Morisco.

A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family with interment at St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery, Archbald. The family will receive relatives and friends Thursday, 4 to 6 p.m. at the Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Service Inc., 111 Colburn Ave., Clarks Summit, PA 18411.
